The GSI, as partner and Work Package 7 (Minerals) leader of EMODnet Geology Phase II, are compiling information of known gas hydrate deposits in European waters. EMODnet partners are submitting the spatial extent of mapped deposits and established information; here you can view data collated thus far. The information presented here are for mapped gas hydrates deposits. These deposits are typically formed in stable solid state; they are mostly composed of methane (CH4), surrounded by water molecules and are generally found at continental margins.
